Experience Points

Experience (XP) is your key to power, helping you to discover new abilities and reach higher peaks of strength. But you don't gain experience by staying in your comfort zone—the only way to grow is to push beyond your limits and brave the dangers of the world.

You don't gain experience just for killing monsters—you gain experience through existence, discovery, and adversity.

  1. Existence: Every time you show up to a session, you will receive experience.
  2. Discovery: Explore the world, meet new people, and uncover secrets—hidden dungeons, ancient cults, legendary monsters. The more valuable and rare your discovery, the more experience you gain.
  3. Adversity: Face danger and survive perilous situations—recover from near death, challenge a red dragon, defeat a horde of orcs. The bigger the danger, the bigger your experience—if you can survive.

1 . Existence XP

Just by showing up to a session, you will gain 1 XP. As a note: players not present at a session will still receive XP from the other categories.

2. Discovery XP

Discovery XP is distributed on the spot and across all players evenly.

Discovery Rewards Table

Item Quality Location Accesibility XP Rewarded
Common Open 0
Uncommon Restricted 1
Rare Hidden 2
Very Rare Lost 3
Legendary Fabled 10

3. Adversity

Adversity XP is distributed at the end of the session. The below table shows the amount of XP to be awarded to every player depending on the most difficult combat encounter they succeeded in that session. Fleeing from a fight or dying negates all reward.

Encounter Rewards Table

Encounter Intensity Example XP Rewarded
Trivial The encounter was no trouble at all 0
Easy The encounter proved to be a minor inconvenience or obstacle 6
Normal The party lost some precious resources and had a hard time 9
Hard The party lost nearly all their resources, or someone died 12
